Day 1

Berrow 2000 Daily Report: Saturday 23rd September

Berrow 2000 started off with a beautiful sunny, warm, and windy day.

A total of 177 buggiers registered today, the first day of Berrow 2000, a huge increase on last year's numbers. If you want to buggy on the beach at Berrow this week, you must first register at the caravan where you will be given an "identity bracelet" which you must wear at all times whilst buggying (to prove you are an insured BBC member).

The wind was rather strong throughout the whole day, resulting in quite a few minor crashes and line breaks. The phrase of the day was "I need a smaller kite!". Mike Shaw managed to sprain his ankle early on, and hobbled around for the rest of the day.

Today was a lovely chance to meet up with friends old and new, and relax on the beach in the fantastic weather. (Yes, this really is the end of September!) Let's just hope it lasts...

Traffic news: The M4 just before junction 15 has major roadworks lasting a couple of miles, and also between junctions 16 & 17 there are major roadworks and a contraflow. Allow for at least 45 minutes extra to get through these. The M5 just after junction 18 (Avonmouth) has roadworks for bridge repairs, the delays were not as bad here. Be prepared for queues though!
