Berrow 2000 Daily Report: Sunday 24th September
What did we say about the weather?.. Well it wouldn't be
the same at Berrow without the rain. It started around 4am, and didn't
stop till 11am. The sun eventually came out from behind the clouds during
the afternoon, but then around 3pm the real downpour started, big black
clouds appeared overhead and the wind suddenly shifted 180 degrees and
went from a very calm 3mph to a blustery 15+mph!
When the rain cleared away there was blue sky and sunshine,
and the wind had picked up- perfect to dry all those soggy kites out.
However, within an hour the rain was back once more, but later cleared
away again, leaving the wind strong enough for some good buggying and
kite-surfing.
Chris Croft looked a likely contender for the Slow-Bo award
today, on two counts. Firstly he decided it would be fun to do a slalom
course around the cones with his caravan, towed behind his Transit. What
he didn't realise was that after the first corner the caravan detached
itself from the van...
He then went to switch on the generator to power the PA
van, but it kept stopping after 10 seconds. After much faffing about with
wire brushes, etc, Peter Mirkovic pointed out that the generator had run
out of oil and the cut-out had operated!
