Berrow '99 Daily ReportDay 3: Monday 20th September 1999Well, the day dawned .. and started raining again! But by 11am it had cleared up and was even beginning to become sunny! However it didn't last long, the rain came back with a vengeance and drove all but the die-hards off the beach and into the Pound Shop down the road! Oh what fun we had choosing paint-your-own gliders, jumbo thermometers and comedy breasts! And all for one pound! (Gary Tyrrell: "How much is this, mate?...") Monday night was Chilli Night in the marquee, I have not heard of any major casualties as a result, but a couple of people did get indigestion... Ian Meredith taste tested so you can blame him if you were ill! The Slow-Bo award was handed over to Steven Pugh, 22, from Basingstoke in a ceremony in the marquee. He earned his prize by trying to show off while I was taking a photo of him on the beach. He attempted to land his Skytiger just in front of me. When this failed he ran backwards trying to relaunch the kite, tripped over his buggy and ended up in a crumpled heap on the sand! So, well done Steven! He gets the privilege of escorting everyone to the Seagull Club on Tuesday. There was a lottery to decide the winners of the races that should have been held today (if it hadn't rained so much!), and a beer drinking contest where the contestants had to drink out of a toilet. See Toilet Humour! As Bob Cruikshanks would say: - You gotta be in it to win it!
