Berrow '99 Daily ReportDay 4: Tuesday 21st September 1999This morning started fairly overcast, but turned out to be lovely and sunny, with a 5-10mph wind blowing out towards the sea. At 11am we were informed that the RAF were going to do a fly-by at 250 feet, so all kites were grounded. By 11.30 they still hadn't flown over, and everyone was itching to get out and buggy in the near perfect conditions. Eventually the jets went over (very loudly!) and soon the beach was full of kites and buggies. There were two races held today - Novice and Pro races. The Novice race descended into mayhem in the first few minutes, as the lack of wind and the downwind start caused confusion amongst the assembled buggiers and there were more kites on the ground and people standing up than there were people buggying! The Pro race fared no better- minutes before the start of the race it began to rain ... and then pour down! (They're a dedicated lot, these buggiers!) Later in the day it cleared up again, time to see some trick flying on the beach before the trip down to the Seagull Club... At the club we were "entertained" by a band called Madhouse, they performed cover versions of Madness songs, also Robbie Williams, Queen, Boyzone, various 70's and 80's songs, and even did the Full Monty! (apart from a few "smiley faces"!) Much merriment was had by all (which continued back into the caravan park until the wee small hours!). I have heard rumours of bizarre happenings and "male bonding" / hair dying sessions- any further news will be reported here!
