Berrow '99 Daily ReportDay 6: Thursday 23rd September 1999Here we are on Thursday and boy is the wind blowing! It has been 25-30mph all day, and mostly dry and sunny. By 11am almost everyone was out on the beach with very small kites! Racing took place, and there was a safari down to the lighthouse. Unfortunately the wind today was blowing straight down the beach, which meant that the buggiers had to tack between the beach and the sea (not much fun!) After a brief spell of rain at around 2pm, the weather cleared up again and was warm and sunny (but still extremely windy). At 4.30pm, the rain returned! Drama unfolded as Chris Croft went over the big jump and jarred his back as he landed. He ended up lying on the beach, winded, in pain but not permanently damaged. As a precaution he was taken to hospital to have an X-ray, and was heard shouting "I need an 8 metre kite!" as he lay on a trolley! Anyway he escaped with bruised kidneys and was still "very sore" on Friday morning... Tonight it was off down to the Seagull Club, for some more fun and games. Mike and Ian did well, wearing their breasts until 11pm as promised. They certainly looked like they were enjoying all the attention, however Ian noted: "When people talk to me, they don't look me in the eye, they stare at my chest!" (Now you know how women feel!) They even borrowed their girlfriends' underwear on Wednesday night (trouble is, a thong doesn't quite cover all that a man has got!...) The Slow-Bo award could have gone to any number of people today: someone had gone round the race course the wrong way, others had fallen off their buggies, etc. I never even made it onto a buggy, so I was "chosen" to be Slow-Bo by Ian. However Mike had a trick up his sleeve and announced that in actual fact the award would go to Ian, not only for falling off his buggy, but for taking the boat to the petrol station to fill it up, and forgetting the keys for the petrol cap!!
