Blackheath Easter Kite Festival 2000

Sunday 23rd & Monday 24th April 2000

Monday 24th:

After the nights brief spells of rain, the day dawned looking overcast but sunny in places. The wind was stronger today, around 10-15mph mostly, and the rain held off. There were plenty of sunny spells among the cloud, in fact the weather was pretty much ideal for a kite festival (if not a little too gusty in places!).

There were plenty of demonstrations in the arena to keep the crowds happy - including team flying by Crosslines and The Flying Squad, a buggy race involving amongst others, Mark Kingshott & Tony Ferraro, and trick flying by Axel Ferraro (age 7) and Andy Wardley (age >7).

Mark Kingshott impressed the crowds in the buggy race by doing wheelies with only one foot on his footpegs, Andy Wardley demonstrated his mountain board skills with a Flexifoil Blade, and the ice-cream wars hotted up as more unlicensed vans made their way onto the field!
