Middle Wallop Kite & Buggy Festival 2000

Saturday 5th & Sunday 6th August 2000

Made an early start on Sunday and got to the field around 9am. The sky was fairly cloudy with sunny spells, and the wind started off fairly quiet. We thought it would be a repeat of Saturday but it soon picked up and lots of people took the opportunity to get out there and buggy, discovering the furthest corners of the field at high speed on the smooth, short grass. Most fun of all was the runway towards the left hand side of the field, where you could get some speed up for the long journey back to "buggy camp".

Bob Cruickshanks appeared, wearing his funky frog trousers then promptly donned his funky frog waistcoat.. while the rest of us donned sunglasses!

The wind got better around midday, when the field was filled with buggiers whizzing along having a good time. It was approximately one mile from one side of the field to the other, my speedo said I buggied 13 miles today, no wonder I ached afterwards!!

It was nice to see so many familiar faces at Middle Wallop, kind of a trial run for Berrow (just without the rain!)

We had such a great time it was a shame to have to come home.. definitely worth another trip next year!
