3rd Wirral Kite Festival

Gromit flys an aeroplane

Sunday 20th June 2004

Location: The "Dips", New Brighton, Wirral
Organised by:
Phil Womack / Flying Circus

The Wirral Kite Festival has to rate as one of the luckiest kite festivals for weather. For most of the morning it poured with rain and then at 11:30 it stopped, just 30 minutes before the official festival start time. Shortly after that the sun started to shine and for the rest of the day it stayed dry and sunny.

Guests this year included Malcolm Goodman, George Webster, Carl Robertshaw, James Robertshaw, Karl Longbottom, Andrew Beattie, Graham Lockwood, Nick James, Mike Goddard, Dave Holt and John Dobson.

The Northern Kite Group (NKG) were in attendance, Derek Kuhn of the Midlands Kite Fliers ran the childrens kite making workshop and the Flying Circus team ensured the event ran smoothly.

A busy programme ensured that there was always something happening to captivate the publics attention, such as teddy bear dropping, Rokkaku fighting and dual & quad line ballet displays.

Here are a selection of photographs from the event, click on each image for a larger version.
